The Sydney Football Stadium, commercially known as Allianz Stadium and previously Aussie Stadium, was a football stadium in Moore Park, Sydney, Australia. Built in 1988 next to the Sydney Cricket Ground, the stadium was Sydney’s premier rectangular field venue for rugby league, rugby union, and football. To drive growth in the visitor economy, promote a strong cultural and sporting sector and make NSW more liveable, the new Sydney Football Stadium will be home to some of Sydney’s most successful sporting franchises and will be one of Australia’s top destinations for major sporting and entertainment events.
